Mission

Day 2 of 3 for the first steps to branding your business - branding foundations. If you’re joining now or forgot, this week I will be talking about the 3 core things to any businesses branding foundation. So, if you’re just joining in, make sure you head back to the ‘Vision’ blog post at some point! If you ever have any additional questions or comments, feel free to reach out.

Mission. No, not Mission Impossible. Your mission tells people what your business does for them. Today we’ll be talking about how to make a mission statement. What's the difference between a mission statement and a vision statement? I think of your vision statement as the vision for your business and your mission statement is how you accomplish that. It’s not one or the other here, both are equally important.

How do I make one? Let’s use an easy to use template...
Your Business Name + What you do + Your Ideal Customer + What You Provide  + Your Customers Benefit.

Of course we’re going to do a few examples, just like we did in the last post, let's use the same businesses.

Starting with mine.

CreWeb Designs + Helps + Entrepreneurs + Web Design and Branding + Getting  Professional yet Creative Services.

The first two are easy…”CreWeb Designs helps”. I like to think of the what you do section as a verb or word that leads you into what you provide. Let’s do the next two! “CreWeb Designs helps creative entrepreneurs grow their business through branding and web design”...Now I just need to add my customers' benefits.

CreWeb Designs helps creative entrepreneurs grow their business through branding and web design in a professional yet creative way that makes sense to the individual business.

Next we have a photography business.

Strong Tree Photography + Captures + Senior Moms + Photography + To Capture The Moment Forever

Let’s do the first three this time…”Strong Tree Photography captures your senior in their last year of high school.” Lastly, I just need to add what I do and how it benefits my customer!

Strong Tree Photography captures your senior in their last year of high school in a specialized photography session to remember, cherish, and have forever.

Last business; a product based business!

Lily’s Candle Shop + Helps + Everyone + Candles + Escaping

Just like the last example, let's put the first three sections together…”Lily’s Candle Shop helps everyone of all ages”. And with the last 2 pieces together we will have our final product!

Lily’s Candle Shop helps everyone of all ages by creating a wondrous world to escape into with a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors for all their candles.

I hope this post can help at least a few small business owners. I tried to really simplify and break down how to create a mission statement because having a mission statement is more important than you might think! It’s something that takes a few minutes that can be applied nearly everywhere when describing your business. I dive more into mission and give you the opportunity to cultivate your own mission with me in my branding packages. If you’d like to know what else I offer in my branding packages, you can head over to the services page or you can shoot me a message, email, or dm. I’d love to get to know a little about you and your amazing business!

Stay tuned for the rest of the branding foundation 3 part series this week
